A grand new cineplex equipped with state-of-the-art screening technologies opened on Saturday in Beijing at the recently launched Museum of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

China Film Co., Ltd., a part of China Film Group Corporation, built the cineplex as a high-tech support facility for the Museum of the CPC. It is located in the underground commercial center of the museum which also hosts restaurants, a book store and other businesses.

The cineplex features 21 screens, including a CINITY giant screen theater, two CINITY standard theaters, a 16-meter LED theater and one 4D theater. The cinema is equipped with state-of-the-art technology such as CINICITY, THX, China Giant Screen (CGS), CFG Barco digital screening systems, laser and smart projection systems, box office monitoring systems and more. Most of the technology used in the cinema was made by Chinese technology companies with independent intellectual property rights.

The CINITY Cinema System, a major feature of the cinema, is a 4K projection system featuring a high frame rate, wide gamut, immersive sound and other technologies. It was developed by Huaxia Film Distribution Co., Ltd. and made its debut in director Ang Lee's film Gemini Man back in 2019. By the end of March 2021, 45 CINITY theaters had been built and were in operation nationwide, with another 50 on the way. A total of 58 blockbusters have released CINITY versions, including domestic production Detective Chinatown 3 and the Hollywood animated feature Raya and the Last Dragon.

Film directors Chen Kaige, Yin Li and Chen Guoxing, actors Tian Zhuangzhuang, Yao Chen and Jia Ling, director duo Huang Jianxin and Zheng Dasheng of new revolutionary blockbuster 1921 along with their cast and crew, as well as the leadership of the China Film Administration, China Film Group Corporation and various relevant government departments and organizations, attended the opening ceremony of the China Film Cinema at the Museum of the CPC. They also watched the premiere of the CINITY version of the film 1921.

In order to suit the atmosphere of the museum, Jiao Hongfen, the president of China Film Group, said the cinema will assign two theaters of the cineplex as special theaters to regularly screen China's revolutionary films. This will serve those who love the genre, help people revisit the Party's history and popularize the great struggles and glorious achievements made by Chinese people led by the CPC to the general public, especially young people.
