Japan issues record number of visas to Chinese in 2016

Japan issued a record-breaking 4.2 million visas to Chinese visitors and tourists in 2016, a growth of 11.7 percent.According to the 163 news report, the number of visas to Chinese citizens accounted for more than three-quarters of all visas issued last year, followed by the Philippines and Indonesia with more than 275,000 and 195,000 visas respectively.As Japan relaxed its requirements for multiple-entry visa for Chinese citizens in April 2016, the number of multiple entry visas more than doubled to 306,000, validating the Japanese government's move.Last year Japan received 6.3 million Chinese tourists, a year-on-year growth of more than a quarter.(GBTIMES)
